Time for just one quilt store stop

After my trunk show on Monday we had time for one quilt shop. We were very close to The Rabbits Lair in Rogers Arkansas. It is in a old pharmacy building. Loved the old building

They had lots of fun things to look at. My attention was caught by the two large scrap bins. We cleaned off the large table upstairs & got to work sorting. I ended up with this bag

There was nothing saying that the bag had to close so we packed it full!

Can you believe that I got all if this for $7?!!!! I was over the moon. Hope y'all are having a great day. More later on,

What I'm working on today

What am I working on? I'm putting everything away from a guild presentation  yesterday in Bella Vista Arkansas. I need to put these quilts back in their spots.

I had a great time with The Calico Cut Ups quilt guild. They were a great group!

My mom came with me & we had a great time.

While on the trip I did finish my Moms embroidered wall hanging. All we have to do now is find fabric for the border.

Thankfully I was prepared & had my next embroidery project with me.

The thread is a dark plummy purple. I've got quite a few blocks of these to make so they'll be around for a while.
My plate is almost empty when it comes to quilts. All current projects except for one ( a quilt for a new widow at church) are all caught up!! Woohoo!! That means I can start on something new! I'm thinking it will be a treadle project. It's been a few months since I have sewed a project on my treadle. I hope y'all are having a great day. More later on,

Vicky

30's Periwinkle quilt is done!!!!!

Holy Moley it's done!!! I'm so excited & a little bit in disbelief that it's done. I have wanted to make this quilt for a long time but I had never found a pattern for it that I liked. Well that all changed this past May. I had made a trip up to Cameron MO to look at some farm equipment. I realized I was not very far from Hamilton MO, which is where Missouri Star Quilt Co is. Well I just had to go I was just 12 miles or so away. They had the Periwinkle quilt as a display & the template & foundation papers all in stock. Woohoo I was sold! I wanted to make mine in 30's prints with a white background. My hope was that it would put a serious dent in both of those piles & it did. I made mine much bigger than the one that was on display ( shocker I know, I just have a hard time making small quilts). Quilt stats:
256 blocks, setting 16X16, 1,024 kite pieces & 2,048 white background pieces.

I didn't count the border pieces. My LAQ is putting muslin on the back. This was my summer project this year. I started it on June 14 ( I know this because I looked back through text messages to my LAQ & friend). I'm looking forward to getting it back & the binding put on.

I'm going to be spending time inside today & probably until it freezes. The fall allergy season has started & I'm much happier & healthier inside. So glad I love quilting. I hope y'all have a great day,

I'm frustrated with technology

A while back I was told that I was a no reply blogger. I eventually figured out how to get that corrected, or so I thought. I made a comment on a blog yesterday & they informed me that I was a "no reply blogger". Ahhh that is so frustrating. I know that I had it changed & I'm not sure how or why it got changed. There are other things I'd like to change/add to my blog but when it comes to technology I always seem to feel like I'm behind the 8 ball. I guess I need/should spend more time learning & less time sewing. That's really hard though because I just want to sew & make the technology take the back burner. If anyone has any advice or suggestions I'd love to hear them. I think I will wait until tomorrow though, I've been up since 4 am ( getting sleepy) & there are still chores, back to school night & my local guild meeting. I hope y'all are having a great day. More later on,

What I'm working on today

I guess I should say what I'm hoping to work on today. I'm hoping to sew today. I haven't sat behind a sewing machine in about a week. I was way too busy, visiting family in Colorado. My brother & his wife had a new baby girl a few months ago & my sister & I met a their house for a sibling reunion. Here I am with my sweet new niece

We had such a great time. My husband was a great trooper he took me to many different quilt shops & The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden

I do have a good time at quilt museums but I do feel let down when I leave. I guess I am expecting more quilts than what I see. These were the two quilts from the 15 that I liked

They did have this shirt in the gift shop & it cracked me up

Today I've got to do laundry & do some cleaning but I really want to make time for cutting more white rectangles for my '30's quilt. I've got 150 blocks done just 100 more to go!! I hope y'all are having a great day. More later on,

Getting things done in found bits of time

With as busy as life can be sometimes you have to be organized & passionate in order to pursue your passion. I try to always have my cow/busy bag with me wherever I go.

Inside I keep my handwork. This bag goes with me everywhere. You just never know when you'll have an unexpected 5-10 minutes when you can get things done. I've been able to get a lot done on my current project. ( this is the wall hanging I've been working on for my Mom).

I just have 2 borders to stitch & then I can work on the patchwork border! This also means that I need to get my next project out so that I can be ready.

I've also been trying to sew on my '30's blocks. I've got 140 blocks done! Woohoo!! I've passed the halfway point!

I hope y'all have a great day & check out what other quilters are working on at patchworktimes.com.  More later on,
